1987 – USP
Documentary, 20 min, 2025. In Portuguese.
The film reconstructs the 1987 split of the Department of Social Sciences at the University of São Paulo, which gave rise to the Department of Sociology. It draws on period documents, bulletins and student newspapers, and above all on interviews with the faculty who lived through what one of them calls “the undulating movement of history”: the passage from the old chairs to the graduate programme, the disputes inside the department, and the institutional positions each interviewee held before and after the split.

Award. Honorable Mention in the first Call for Films on the Memory of Sociology in Brazil, an initiative of the SBS Memória project (2023–2025) of the Brazilian Sociological Society. The film was screened at the 22nd Brazilian Congress of Sociology, in the session “Public Sociology and Science Communication”.

O filme reconstitui o desmembramento do Departamento de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de São Paulo em 1987, de onde saiu o Departamento de Sociologia. Baseia-se em documentos de época, boletins e jornais estudantis e, sobretudo, no depoimento de docentes que viveram esse “movimento ondulante da história”: a passagem das cátedras ao programa de pós-graduação, as disputas internas do departamento e as posições institucionais de cada depoente antes e depois da separação.

Premiação. Menção Honrosa na primeira edição do Edital de Seleção de Vídeos Memória da Sociologia no Brasil, iniciativa do projeto SBS Memória (2023–2025) da Sociedade Brasileira de Sociologia. O documentário foi exibido no 22º Congresso Brasileiro de Sociologia, no fórum “Sociologia Pública e Divulgação Científica”.
